Asher's follow-up album to 'Open Secret'
Produced and mixed by original Genesis guitarist Anthony Phillips (who also plays on the album) and Asher Quinn
All music composed and arranged by Asher Quinn
Originally released by New World Music in 1989 (Asher being known as Denis Quinn at the time), this album was a top-seller around the world. It went to No.1 in the New-Age charts in the UK, Belgium, Holland, Australia and Greece. Track 2, ‘Missa Greca’ (Greek Mass), probably explains why it was so popular in Greece!
At the time of release Mystic Heart broke new ground in that it mixed instrumental, ambient, and classically inspired tracks with vocal love-ballads, and sacred chant (anticipating the likes of Enigma and Adiemus)
“Musically and spiritually it has a 'one-world' feel, a little reminiscent of some of Peter Gabriel's work, and Anthony Phillips' Genesis-tinged production technique and pastoral guitar references contribute to its uniqueness... one couldn't say, quite, that it was rock, prog-rock, new-age or classical, and yet it's somehow a bit of each, and more!” - Asher Quinn
Musicians:
Asher Quinn: Piano, Keyboards, Vocals, Percussion
Anthony Phillips: Programming, Guitars, Charanga, Percussion
Phil Thornton: Lead Guitar, Recorder
Tristan Mailliot: Bodhrun, Percussion
Aziz Dikeulias: Vocals on the Doxastikon (Greek Gloria)
Sharon Sage: Vocals
